1971 Eriba Puck Restoration - Floor Installation
Vince Ordonez
Missing Floor
The floor on this camper was rotten and was removed by the owner so the new axle could be installed. This meant I had to pattern out a new floor, cut and install it. Originally I was going to use pressure treated plywood, but both Lowes and Home Depot had sheets that were literally leaking out the waterproofing juice. I decided to use CDX plywood which has the waterproof glue and to use fiberglass resin and epoxy to waterproof the wood.
Patterning
I used chipboard and Durascrim to pattern out the new floor. After making a pattern I transferred the pattern to the plywood. Pictures below.
Cutting and Test Fit
Using a jigsaw I cut out the pattern and then had to test fit it in the camper. This step is critical so you get the tightest fit and provide space for the wood to expand and contract.
Wood Prep
I will seal the wood with fiberglass resin and fill all holes and defects with epoxy on the top surface and will treat the underside with resin and black undercarriage paint.

Floor Install
Each section of floor was glued/screwed to the frame. This step ensures the floor will not rattle or squeak.

Sanding and Fiberglass Joint Tape
After the floor was installed I had to sand all high spots and then tape the seams between floor sections. These seams will be sealed with fiberglass resin and sanded smooth in preparation of the vinyl floor my customer selected is installed.
